Artist in Residence @ Wild Rose Elementary (Monrovia)

June 2, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

During the two-hour art  session, students will be learning how to paint, distress and wax a decorative picture frame, all while learning the value and art of up-cycling!

We need students to bring an up-cycled 8×10 or 11×17 picture frame to complete. By up-cycled, we mean a picture frame that has been rescued from the garage or attic, or perhaps one that you found at a thrift store or weekend garage sale. Cast-offs make for the best transformations and allow us to share the value and earth-friendly measures of creating something beautiful from something old and outdated.

Students projects will be completed using Chalk Paint® Decorative Paints by Annie Sloan; an all-natural, water-based paint that is lead free, EG free, odor free and boasts zero detectable VOC’s; toy safe according to strict European regulations (BS EN 71-3:2013).  Wax top coats will be finished using a 100%, all-natural Beeswax by Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint.
