I got this fabulous display unit about a month ago when I was visiting my sisters house. It is huge and barely fit in the truck, but when there is a will, there’s a way.

Patti and I played with paint colors and decided to mix a custom shade special for this piece. The idea was a shade reminiscent of the coast because of the large seashell shapes on the front and back. We started with 2 parts of Greek Blue to 1 part Versailles which made a shade slightly darker than Duck Egg Blue. To brighten it up, we added 2 parts Antibes Green and got this…

A soft, beachy feeling color that has a sea foam green look. We named this color “Fresh Produce.”

At about eight feet tall, this free-standing unit is ideal for a store display piece.

Prior to painting the Fresh Produce color, I hit the entire piece with Cream so that when it was distressed, some of the soft yellow would peek through the green.

There are so many great details! And, the more distressed it gets, the better it will look.

I can just picture this unique piece in a formal dining room with cascades of silver on the shelves and fine china. Or, in a large master bedroom with a collection of vintage oddities and family pictures. Or, in a store displaying shoes, scarves and sweaters! Or, in a covered patio as a garden center. The possibilities are endless.

I just love a piece of versatile furniture! What’s the most versatile piece you’ve ever found or purchased?
