Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Aviary
Aviary is a rich, smoky blue color named after an antique aviary lovingly found by Miss Mustard Seed. The color combines the richness of the blues in the Miss Mustard Seed’s Paint line, Artissimo and Bergere with the bold greys, Trophy and Schloss.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: French Enamel
French Enamel is named for the French enamelware pitchers Marian has always admired in antique stores and magazines. The color is a vibrant, mid-tone blue.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Outback Petticoat
This color is not just another shade of orange, because a simple orange can easily look bad on furniture. Instead, we got natural looking orange not to strong or bright. The name was inspired by a group of Australian MMSMP retailers.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Eulalie’s Sky
Eulalie’s Sky is a pale greenish-blue named after the color in the sky of a cow painting by artist Cindy Austin. Marian named the cow Eulalie and she has hung happily in her home for several years and has become a trademark of Marian’s style.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Ironstone
Ironstone is the closest to a pure white currently in the line. It is named after Marian’s favorite thing to collect, white ironstone chine. This color is a slightly cooler off-white and pulls a little gray. If you want white, this is your color.
Mix Ironstone with colors to lighten. Obviously, white pairs well with everything!
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Linen
Linen is the cream in our line. Named for linen fabrics that have slightly yellowed with age, this color has warm undertones and is a nice, creamy white.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Tricycle
Tricycle is the perfect red. It’s bold and bright, but still has a warm, classic look to it. When Marian was naming the red in her line, Tricycle immediately came to mind.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Mustard Seed Yellow
Mustard Seed Yellow is a warm, buttery yellow. It’s bright without being too bold and it’s a perfect “happy yellow.”
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Lucketts Green
Lucketts Green is named after the color of the shingled siding on The Old Lucketts Store in Lucketts, Virginia. It is Marian’s favorite antique store and source of design inspiration, and she was a vendor there for several years. Lucketts Green is a soft, spring green with yellow undertones. It’s very close to the color commonly found on furniture in the 1930’s and 1940’s, making it the perfect vintage green.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Boxwood
Boxwood is our rich, dark grassy green. Depending on the finish used on the piece, it can look bright and bold or subtle – more like a muted olive. Boxwood is named for the preserved boxwood wreaths and topiaries Marian uses in her interiors.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Kitchen Scale
Kitchen Scale is a rich teal, named after an antique scale Marian once owned in her kitchen. The scale has since been passed along to Jennylyn, the president of Homestead House Paint Co.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Shutter Gray
Shutter Gray is another one of Marian’s favorites. It’s a French blue/gray that has a faded quality about it. It’s named for a pair of antique gray shutters Marian found at an antique store.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Flow Blue
Flow Blue is a rich blue that’s deeper than French Enamel, but not as dark as Artissimo. It’s named after the blues found on antique “flow blue” china.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Typewriter
Typewriter is the black in our line. Marian describes it as an off-black or soft black. It is named for the black color traditionally found on antique typewriters.
Mix Typewriter with any of the colors in the line to make them darker and more muted. For example, when mixed with Boxwood, a deep olive green can be achieved. Mix it with Grain Sack to make a perfect charcoal gray.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Grain Sack
Grain Sack is one of Marian’s favorite colors, named for the color of antique European grain sacks. It’s a chameleon color, meaning it looks different depending on what is around it. Sometimes it looks white, sometimes gray and sometimes more beige.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Trophy
Trophy is a warm, rich gray with yellow undertones. Unlike Shutter Gray, which is very blue, Trophy is a truer gray reminiscent of tarnished silver found on antique trophies.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Curio
Curio is a rich, walnut brown that is perfect to use as a glaze or stain. It’s also a great color to use for mixing with other colors. It was named for the rich wood on a curio Marian inherited from her aunt.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Artissimo
Artissimo is our navy/midnight blue named for the blue and white fabric Marian used in her master suite. Depending on the finish, it can look like a brighter royal blue or almost black.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Farmhouse White
So, what’s the big deal with this color? It’s a beautiful white and better coverage. It’s a win-win.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Arabesque
Think ballet tights, dusty pink tutus and pale tea roses and you’ll have a good idea what to expect from Arabesque. This decidedly feminine color is also surprisingly neutral, making this pink one that goes beyond nurseries.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Mora
Mora is named for the famous curvy clocks made in Mora, Sweden. It is a whisper of a color – a neutral with gray, blue and green undertones.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Marzipan
Named for the delicious almond paste famous in Germany, Marzipan is an equally delicious warm neutral. It’s an off-white with beige and warm gray undertones. It pairs beautifully with Ironstone for a subtle contrast.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Bergere
This smokey blue gray inspired by the painted frames of a pair of antique French Bergere chairs. This blue is more subtle than the other blues in our line, but still makes a statement.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Layla’s mint
A version of this warm, minty green was originally custom-mixed for Layla of The Lettered Cottage. It ended up being the perfect green to add to our subtle European colour collection.
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint: Schloss
This rich, stone color is named Schloss, the German word for castle. It’s warmer and richer than Trophy, making it the “greige” that our customers have been asking for!
