I know…what a cheesy blog title. When I was in graduate school, one of my professors focused on the importance of the titles and first sentences of a paper. He said, “you gotta have a good hook!” I’ve always loved coming up with good hooks! Unfortunately, today all I could come up with was Quack. Duck Egg Blue. “Quack”
Fortunately, duck egg blue is far prettier than it sounds.
This desk was on my pick it before I paint it page, and a customer with some vision picked it with the perfect color combination in mind.
Duck Egg Blue and Old White.
Isn’t the hardware hideous?! They look like knockers from an old medieval castle. So not right for this piece.
So much better!
One coat of duck egg for the frame of the desk and several coats of old white on the drawers with a coat of clear and dark waxes!
A very light distressing makes some of the details pop!
On a side note, we’ve had a killer week for furniture sales. I’m nearly wiped out and am kicking it into high gear to get some dramatic pieces ready for this week’s Furniture Friday! Waiting to be completed is this French Farm style hutch. The outside is painted and it just needs the finishing details and then the arduous task of painting the inside.
Stay tuned for the finished reveal!
Good for you on the furniture frenzy – although it can be stressful! Painting the inside of hutches is definitely not the most fun.
Oh so pretty! I love it. I HATE painting the inside of a hutch. Did you know that on a lot of those hutches the backs pop off pretty easily? Might be worth checking. xo Diana
