It’s hard to believe, but school will be starting again in less than a month! That means last minute vacations, final getaways to the beach and back to school shopping! For all your back to school shopping, I bet you can get a fair amount of supplies right in downtown! Start preschool in serious style by stocking up on new clothes at Lola Baby. If you are starting a stringed instrument this year, Strings Music has a great selection of instruments and music. Ellsworth Stationers carries any and all school supplies needed to stock your desks and back packs. And you can find any book needed (or special order them) at Village Book Shop or Blue Chair Children’s Bookstore. And, we at knot too shabby think that you should start school by outfitting your at-home work space with style!
If you have stopped by the store at all over the past three weeks, you know by now that I am all about re-purposing furniture pieces. For example, using an abnormally long coffee table as bench, turning a plant stand into a side table, or in this case, turning this narrow drop leaf table into a desk and work space.
Some of the new pieces this week include that great wooden desk chair on caster wheels. It swivels and rocks! The vintage Remington typewriter is a new addition. I’ve had it for four weeks and have been itching to put it out. It needed the right set-up, though. The start of what I’m hoping turns into a large collection of globes. And, the vintage Tonka trucks over 40 years old and made of heavy metal. They show their age with chipping paint and lots of rust! I love them!
Every Friday between now and the start of school will feature a new desk. So, don’t forget to stop on by the store or visit my blog to see how they all turn out. I have some fun pieces that I’m super excited to turn around!
Other additions this Furniture Friday:
The wall of chairs has grown by 14 chairs. They look pretty gnarly now, but with some fresh paint and hand picked upholstery, you could have a great conversation piece in your home.
New Frenchy side tables. A set of two in soft white and shabby chic’d. $100 each.
Desks-unfinished and ready to be customized. On display in the “work room.”
Become a blog follower. Every new follower between now and the start of school (August 23rd) will be entered into a drawing for $25 gift certificate to knot too shabby! Just click on the “follow” link and come August 24th, we will announce our winner!
