I love re purposing! There is nothing more satisfying than putting an otherwise piece of junk to good use as something functional and decorative! When it comes to re purposing things, I admit that I’m a complete novice. But, I find inspiration all over blogland.

A vintage, rusty and perfectly old wheel barrow turned coffee table courtesy of Funky Junk Interiors.

An ice skate turned Christmas Wreath Decoration.

A saw horse turned flower display and funky decoration.

And, of course pallets are all the rage and can be turned into pretty much anything.

Re purposing everyday items is nothing more than being able to think outside the box and be “edgy” enough to actually go with it!

I have a number of newer things in the store that have been effectively re purposed! What would you do with them?

Vintage Suitcases make a fabulous faux side table with tons of storage. OR you could use them like this award winning concept from Red Hen Home.

An old shipping crate used in the 1920’s or 30’s to ship Remington typewriters has been transformed into a mobile storage piece with the use of an old wagon base. I would use this at home to stash extra couch pillows or blankets. You could add a hinged top to it and have it as an interesting but portable coffee table! How would you decorate with it?

Can you tell what all the Christmas ornaments are hanging on? It’s a tomato cage wrapped and tied in frayed fabric!

Old spoons turned hooks (and a glass door knob, too).

And, finally my newest and favorite addition is this refinished dutch door out of solid mahogany.

Vintage Door knob and hardware still intact.

Obviously, if the measurements were just right, you could use this as its intended purpose. A door.

OR, it could be propped against a blank wall, much like it is at the store for decoration.

OR, you could do what I would do with it.

I’d take off the top part of the door where the glass is (it comes in two pieces), flip the door upside down and hang it over my fireplace mantel.

The decorative wood work beneath the shelf would be more exposed on top as well as the old door knob! Plus, it would add an interesting element to display pictures or other decorations.

You could also add shutters to each side of the door and make your own headboard! The size of your bed would determine how far apart your shutters would go.

So many ideas and so little time!

This AWESOME door is for sale! $115 and it’s a steal. I might have to “buy” it myself.

I’d love to see some of your re purposing projects! You can link them up to your comment or add them to my facebook page!
