I have a love hate relationship with rainy Saturdays. I hate them because I lose a day of picking which means I lose the potential furniture pieces for new inventory. I love them because it is a rare chance to have a leisurely morning at home and sleep in later than usual. This past rainy Saturday was no exception. I enjoyed being home for the morning and got a lot of housework done but I had the itch to find something…anything.
On Saturday afternoon, we loaded the kids and drove up to my sisters house in the middle of the desert! Even out in the middle of nowhere, there are a few antique stores so we planned for an afternoon of antique shopping where I was hoping to cure my itch to buy some stuff.
I’m Cured!
Waaaaay off the beaten path in the smack dab middle of the desert was an old white barn, exploding with the dustiest, dirtiest and perfectly vintage….everything. I could barely contain myself. I was so excited about the possibilities!
The first thing that caught my eye was a dirty old milk crate sitting in the middle of a dirt pile, complete with the metal bottle holders fixed inside.
And then we went inside.
A fabulous chippy children’s chair to add to my collection and an antique baby buggy that I am going to be using as a rental piece for baby showers.
All in all, I had so much fun! We felt like the sister pickers…or picker sisters. Whichever it is. I’ve never actually seen the show, but since I was with my sister and sister-in-law, we were calling ourselves that!
I can’t wait to get all this fabulously vintage stuff set up in the store! I’ll take follow-up pictures as soon as I have it displayed.
Until then…
Looooooove the sign!!!!!!!!! Haha I want it lol
Darn I want to go with you out there! You did a picker sister day! How fun! Cat
Wow! What a haul! Can you believe it? I am assuming the prices were pretty good, too, or you wouldn’t have been in a buying mode! I am glad you had fun AND came home to a clean house! xo Diana
You would have LOVED it! It was so wonderfully dirty and packed with treasures. I know I didn’t even see everything!
The prices were very reasonable! That’s the beauty of finding these hole in the wall places in the middle of nowhere. If you are willing to make the trek it’s completely worth it!
Will you share where it is located? It looks like a fun place.
