I’ve never thought about all of the logistics that go into setting up a huge flea market. When you go to shop, there is row after row of perfectly placed vendors and their perfectly placed cars, trucks and vans right alongside. How all that fits so perfectly together like a well-played game of tetris in a matter of an hour…at the crack of dawn…with virtually no light…with a traffic jam of cars, trucks and vans eagerly unloading goodies…well, that’s a sight to behold!
I went down to Irvine with two other sellers.
Michelle Black brought along her Image Transfer art which was a HUGE hit! In fact, her spring line featuring Amelia Earhart has taken off! Every piece sold! I hope she make some more of them.
My other friend Mike brought a bunch of his furniture pieces and almost all of his stuff sold!
I set up a milk paint display and sold about 2/3 of what I took down with me (and that hutch, too).
My big hit was hardware and hooks. I only sold two pieces of furniture but was selling hooks and hardware left and right.
Everything that I took down with me was painted in a variety of Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint colors so that I could show some samples of how the paint looks on furniture.
What a day we had! I am so glad it’s over. I went to bed at 6:30 last night and slept a SOLID 12 hours. I could never do that every week…or even every month. But, we had fun and might make another appearance in six months when I recover from this one!
For now, we are finalizing details for our own Flea Market style event in June, so stay posted for more info to come!!!
Congrats! It sounds tiring but fun.
Hey Michele. For your first time around doing a flea market show your booth looked awesome. I’ve been doing shows the past couple years (just a couple each year) and they are a ton of work. After my first I was hooked, though. I am doing at a minimum 7 this year. Once a month and one month I’m doing two shows. It will be crazy busy but so exciting.
Two shows in a month! That’s crazy!! I hope it all goes well. We had great fun but I certainly don’t have the energy to make a habit of it. I’ll be posting when I make it to another show!
