Instagram Takeover

Takeovers will happen at @knottooshabbyfurnishings on Instagram on Saturdays. The recommended number of entries for a successfully robust takeover is 6-9 Instagram posts and / or 6-9 Instagram stories. In order to be scheduled for a Saturday Takeover, your last entry must be submitted no later than Monday. Entries submitted after Monday will cause your Takeover to be scheduled for a later Saturday.

Knot too shabby reserves the right to publish, edit, or discard any content submitted in order to assist in producing a Takeover that will be relevant & engaging to knot too shabby’s followers.

Before submitting each entry for your Instagram stories & posts, I strongly recommend that your copy & fill out this spreadsheet to plan it all out.

DO NOT USE A FILTER ✔️ Ideal Instagram Post image size: 1080px by 1080px ✔️ Ideal Instagram Stories image size: 1080px tall by 1920px wide
✔️ Ideal Length of Instagram Captions: 138-150 Characters. ✔️ The best way to increase the share potential of your Instagram post and engage your followers is to have some sort of call-to-action in the captions of your photos. That means using action verbs to prompt people to do something, instead of just passively scrolling by. We found that verbs generate more shares on Twitter than nouns and adjectives -- the same can be true for Instagram. For example, you might say, "double-tap if you find this funny" or "share your story in the comments." ✔️ Encourage people to comment with their own experiences. You might be able to draw on these experiences to shape your Instagram strategy moving forward, or to come up with new content ideas. To increase engagement and delight your followers even more, respond to users' answers to make it like a conversation. ✔️ Emojis, the cartoon-like emoticons available to most smartphone users, can add some personality to an Instagram caption. There are a lot of different ways to use emojis in your posts. For example, you can use them at the beginning of post to catch people's eye. You can also use them in the middle of sentences to replace words, or at the end of a post as a sort of punchline.

Tagged accounts

✔️ Whenever you tag someone or a brand on Instagram, they get a notification and are instantly directed to your post. This means that they will be much more likely to like or comment on your picture — thus increasing your engagement. ✔️ Every time you tag someone in a picture, the picture shows up in the “Photos of You” section on their profile. In the future, whenever someone clicks this section on their profile, they’ll see your picture. ✔️ Viewers want to feel like they’re “in the know.” They want a reason to follow you. They want to know where you got things, who you’re hanging out with, and where you ate your lunch. Don’t keep your followers in the dark! Give them a reason to follow you.
